Problem Statement

Geojit's older trading platform, Selfie, was outdated, cluttered, and challenging to navigate, leading to user dissatisfaction. The company aims to modernise its online product suite, beginning with Flip, a new trading ecosystem, to deliver a sleek, user-friendly experience aligned with contemporary design and technology standards. Helping users achieve their investment goals.

Using Design Thinking

We embraced design thinking methodology, prioritising frequent testing and iteration throughout the project. Our focus on delivering final app designs led us to prioritise continuous testing at various stages, collaborating closely with technical experts from Geojit.

Defining The Product

Stakeholder Interviews

We kicked off the project by conducting stakeholder interviews with trading experts, developers, stock exchange representatives, compliance officers, and leadership. After thorough interviews and product walkthroughs, we synthesised the gathered information to strategise for the new platform.

Synthesis & Findings

After extensive information gathering, we synthesised and categorised the data into relevant buckets, leading to the creation of the Information Architecture and helped us identify features, and plan the development planning since that also required compliance approvals.

Key Highlights

The Watchlist

The watchlist was designed to provide users with comprehensive information. Working with trading experts at Geojit, we determined essential data for quick decision-making, organizing additional information for each page covering stocks, options, and futures.

Key Highlights

The Stock Page

Each tradable scrip on the platform had its own dedicated page, subdivided into key categories for users to access varying levels of detail. Essential information such as charts, research, and market performance was identified and included on each scrip page.

Key Highlights

The Option Chains

Option Chains were integrated into the mobile app, offering seasoned traders the ability to invest. Complex information was organised, filtered, and a new interaction designed specifically for the Indian markets, enabling users to trade in up to 4 option scrips simultaneously. This module represented the most complex module we designed.

Key Highlights

The Onboarding

We redesigned the onboarding and demat account creation process, leveraging technology and platforms like digilocker for quick document capture. This streamlined the account opening time from an average of 20 minutes to an average of 6 minutes.

Ideating & Designing

Wireframing & Testing

After synthesizing primary information, we began wireframing with a mobile-first approach for both a hybrid mobile app and a browser-based web app for Flip. Using a design and test format, we iteratively designed key modules, conducting testing with the Geojit team. After iterations, designs were handed over to UI.

Design System & UI

For finalising visuals, the main focus was on creating a responsive design system, documenting components from icons to cards. Visuals were first crafted for the design system, then adapted to the final UI. For handoff to development, specific files were created, and the dev teams were provided with walkthroughs and assistance in documenting the designs as required.
